Austria take on Israel in their first match of the 2026-2028 UEFA Nations League campaign. Austria would've expected to do better at the 2026 World Cup, but there's no shame in being knocked out by eventual Champions Spain. Israel didn't qualify for the World Cup and will be looking to put in better performances during the League phase of this competition.
The Europeans are the favorites to win this match and comfortably so. While Austria haven't won in their last three, two of those games came against Spain and Argentina. Prior to that defeat to the South American giants, Austria had won five from six. Israel are unbeaten in four, winning two of those. This run, though, came on the back of two heavy defeats at the hands of Italy and Norway.
Despite this, we think Austria will win. For our prediction, we think both sides will find the net but it's a game the Europeans should take all three points from.
