by Bradley Gibbs in ATP US Open Picks
We'll see plenty more matches take place at Flushing Meadows on Thursday, when some of the ATP big boys will be involved on court, including Andrey Rublev, who has recently slipped down to 15th in the rankings. Having made light work of getting through the first round, the Russian will take on American Tristan Boyer, who seemingly enjoyed himself at his home slam during the first round, beating the higher-ranked James Duckworth in straight sets. This match obviously requires the 24-year-old, who has only been a professional at this level for less than two years, to pull out more, but with plenty of the crowd behind him, he may well be capable of doing just that.
Rublev is a very, very hard player to face on his day, and it's fair to say that he's been in strong hard-court form over the last few weeks, but he's not always the most fluent in matches of this nature, while he often drops at least one set during the early rounds at the Grand Slams. An interesting encounter awaits.

Our Tristan Boyer vs Andrey Rublev Prediction
Naturally, as the world number 15 and a player who has reached many Grand Slam quarter-finals, Andrey Rublev is the big favorite to beat 24-year-old Tristan Boyer who is yet to complete his second full season as an ATP Tour professional. However, the American certainly enjoyed himself in the first round, beating Aussie James Duckworth in straight sets, which will have filled him with confidence, so we shouldn't be too surprised if he caused Rublev a few problems here. After all, the Russian often drops a set in Grand Slam matches when he's the favorite, doing so in both the first and second round at Wimbledon this year, while he did the same thing early on at the French Open. Our Tristan Boyer vs Andrey Rublev Pick: Over 3.5 Sets.
