EuroLeague Preview and Picks

European basketball takes center stage with the EuroLeague! This competition pits the best clubs on the continent against each other, and for this new edition, 20 teams will battle it out for the coveted trophy.
In a single league table, the 20 teams play each other twice (home and away) from late September 2026 through mid-April 2027. That's when the play-in and playoffs begin, crowning Europe's best club (the season wraps up May 30). Our experts will be here to help you make predictions on every matchup in the continental competition.
EuroLeague Winner Prediction: Who Wins It All?

Once again, last season's 2025-2026 EuroLeague delivered the goods, with Olympiacos beating Real Madrid in the final. This year, we're obviously hoping for a similar season, with wild games and top-notch basketball.
Heading into the season, sportsbooks have the two Greek giants, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, as the heavy favorites to lift the trophy. They're followed closely by Real Madrid, among others, which was already the case last year.
Our experts agree that the odds offered by online sportsbooks make sense, and believe one of the two Greek clubs has what it takes to go all the way, just like Olympiacos did last year. Our 2026-2027 EuroLeague winner prediction: Olympiacos or Panathinaikos wins the title!

New to Sports Betting? How Does the EuroLeague Work?
The EuroLeague remains the most coveted competition for European basketball clubs. For the 2026-2027 edition, we once again have 20 teams. Each one plays 38 games, facing every other club twice: once at home and once on the road. When the regular season ends, it's playoff time! So how do you get there?
At the end of the regular season, here's where teams need to finish to dream of the title:
- Teams finishing 1st through 6th qualify directly for the playoffs
- Teams finishing 7th through 10th must play in the play-in
- The 7th and 8th seeds face off in a play-in game. The winner is considered the 7th seed
- The 9th and 10th seeds face off in a play-in game. The winner faces the loser of the 7th vs. 8th game. The winner of that game is considered the 8th seed
From there, the playoffs begin, and the best clubs really get down to business. Here's how the playoffs work:
- The 1st seed faces the 8th, the 2nd faces the 7th, the 3rd faces the 6th, and the 4th faces the 5th. The quarterfinals are best-of-5 series, and teams need 3 wins to advance
- The last 4 teams standing play in the Final Four, held at a predetermined site over a single weekend (May 28-30). The semifinals and final are single-game, winner-take-all matchups
Now you know why the EuroLeague attracts so many bettors! Here are our best tips for betting on Europe's top basketball league.
How Do You Make Good Predictions on EuroLeague Games?

You need to stack the odds in your favor when preparing a EuroLeague bet, or any basketball picks for that matter! There are a few key things to know before betting on it.
SportyTrader has followed this competition for years, and here are a few tips to keep in mind when placing a bet:
- The EuroLeague regular season is different from the playoffs
- Know what's at stake in each European game
- Some clubs shine at home thanks to rowdy arenas
- Go with the moneyline in the EuroLeague
- Widen your betting options for the Final Four
These tips should help you bet smarter on the competition. Let's break each one down in more detail.
The EuroLeague Regular Season Is Different From the Playoffs

This is key to understand! The regular season and the playoffs are completely different. In the regular season, consistency rules. Clubs that are especially strong at home can also pick up a few wins thanks to their crowds. It's a different story in the playoffs, though. The proof? Since this single-table format was introduced, the team that finished first in the regular season has never gone on to win the trophy.
Once the playoffs arrive, don't rely only on the regular season standings to make your prediction. Instead, dig into player form, the playing styles of both teams, and current form. That's how you should prepare your bets once the regular season wraps up.
Know What's at Stake in Each European Game
This is another detail worth factoring in. The EuroLeague runs for several months, so some games can get overlooked during the regular season. Say a club is comfortably sitting in the top 6 and takes on a team fighting for a play-in spot. On paper, the top-6 club should be the favorite. But the stakes will be much higher for its opponent, which could pull off the upset. The same goes for matchups between two clubs from the same country.
Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, or Red Star Belgrade and Partizan Belgrade. Plenty of clubs will face a domestic rival. And the better team doesn't always win! These teams are used to facing each other at the national level, so the underdog has a much better shot than most of taking down the favorite, since it knows its opponent's strengths and weaknesses better.
Some Clubs Shine at Home Thanks to Rowdy Arenas

While the Final Four is played on a neutral court, that's not the case in the regular season or the playoff quarterfinals. In those games, it's worth checking which teams are playing at home. In some countries, the atmosphere is electric! Serbia, Greece, and Turkey come to mind, and it's a detail that can change everything.
Even when Red Star Belgrade or Fenerbahçe are the underdogs in a matchup, they can pull off an upset in their own arena. They're powered by an entire crowd that puts pressure on the opponent. On top of that, the fans don't hesitate to erupt during big plays, and they can absolutely have a say in how a game ends.
Go With the Moneyline in the EuroLeague
This is a habit to build for every basketball game! It's important to understand the difference between the 3-way result and the moneyline. When you bet on the 3-way result, only the score at the end of regulation counts. If you back a team to win and it wins in overtime, your bet loses, since the regulation result goes down as a draw. That's a tricky situation, since games often go beyond regulation.
The moneyline works differently. With this bet, you're picking the winner of the game, whether it goes to overtime or not. Sure, the odds are always a bit shorter than on the 3-way result. But the gap isn't big enough to justify taking on the risk of only betting the 3-way result. We recommend sticking with the moneyline every time. It could save you from a few unpleasant surprises and, more importantly, put a lot more money in your pocket over the long run.
Widen Your Betting Options for the Final Four

At the Final Four, picking the winner can sometimes feel like a coin flip. That's because the gaps between teams are smaller before tip-off. Why not look at other bets for these big games? You can bet on total points, for example.
When two clubs are known for lighting it up offensively, you can easily imagine a high-scoring game. You can also bet on the halftime winner! It's an appealing bet when a team often starts games strong.
Of course, all the tips we just covered are used by our writers for every EuroLeague prediction. They also factor in plenty of statistical data to give you the most complete analysis possible.

What Not to Do With Your EuroLeague Predictions
You just got some valuable tips! But there are also habits you'll want to avoid when betting on the EuroLeague.
Here's what not to do when betting on this competition:
- Betting on a EuroLeague game with nothing on the line
- Wagering more than 5% of your bankroll on EuroLeague basketball
- Betting live without analyzing the matchup first
- Immediately placing another bet after a loss to chase your money back
- Relying only on the odds offered on EuroLeague games
- Adding a heavy favorite at very short odds just to pad your parlay
- Only looking at the standings to analyze your bet
Plenty of bettors don't follow these tips on the EuroLeague! Don't make the same mistake. By avoiding these errors, you'll have a better shot at growing your winnings over the long run.
