The slumping San Jose Sharks face a difficult matchup against the Dallas Stars on Saturday at American Airlines Center. Both teams have struggled for goals lately, making the under a good bet.
While Dallas started the week with a 6-5 win over Washington, that doesn’t reflect their recent offensive form. Before facing the Capitals, Dallas scored six goals in three games, and following Tuesday’s 11-goal thriller, they lost 2-1 in a shootout to Columbus.
Meanwhile, the Sharks have netted just seven goals in their last five games. Most of those goals came in a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks, who sit at rock bottom in the NHL with seven points.
With the likes of Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, San Jose boasts a lot of exciting offensive talent. But things aren’t clicking at the moment, and a turnaround in Saturday’s matchup appears unlikely.
The Sharks go up against one of the league’s top defensive teams. Only the Minnesota Wild have allowed fewer goals than Dallas this season, and they have limited opponents to just 20.7 shots per game.
