We are getting treated right before Halloween with a rematch of the season opener between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks. This time, the Knicks will get a chance to play spoiler on the road like the 76ers did on opening night.
In the previous meeting, the newly revamped 76ers began their campaign with a 106-100 victory. VJ Edgecomb was the only starter without double digits as he finished with just 9 points. KCP and Simons both scored double figures off the bench and helped propel the Sixers to victory. Maxey led the way with 28, and Jaylen Brown dropped 19 on 50% shooting in his 1st game in a Sixers uniform. Despite outrebounding the Sixers, New York shot only 37% from the field. Brunson was just 6-for-19 in the loss, and Mikal Bridges was held to only 4 points.
In this rematch, the teams will both be more adjusted, and it is likely that we will not see the same type of game we saw in the previous game. The Sixers are coming off a 114-109 win over the Pacers where the lead was shifted many times throughout, but the Sixers closed the game on the back of Tyrese Maxey. For the Knicks, they have won their last 2 games over the Pistons and the Bulls. In those games, they shot over 43% from the field and have seemed to find their offense once again.
