Next Friday night will bring a very tough challenge for the Buffalo Sabres, as they’ll host a game against the top team in the Eastern Conference, the New Jersey Devils. Despite the Devils being expected to get an easy victory, the Buffalo Sabres should secure a victory to remain close to the playoff spots, as there’s a five-point gap between them and the Montreal Canadiens.

However, even though the New Jersey Devils could be expected to be fully motivated after winning their last two games, it must be noted that they couldn’t get a bigger margin than one goal in any of those victories. Additionally, the Devils are the team that has won the larger number of games in overtime and shootouts throughout the season, so they aren’t expected to show a dominant performance.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Sabres were able to win three of their last five games, during which they have scored four or more goals per game. Nonetheless, depending on Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch has cost them to lose consistency this season, as many teams have found ways to nullify these players to impose their offensive tactics, a strategy that could be expected to be used by the New Jersey Devils too.
