Two unranked middleweights that are itching to get back into the top 15 will go to battle Saturday night. Kyle Daukaus will look to rebound from his loss to Bo Nickal when he faces Marc Andre Barriault.
Barriault has had a rough stretch over the last 3 years. He is just 1-5 over that stretch and has been finished in 2 of those losses. That said, he has fought some high-level opponents. Joe Pyfer, Shara Magomedov, and Michal Oleksiejczuk make up 3 of those 5 losses, and all 3 of them are extremely dangerous and successful opponents. If he wants to continue his UFC career, he will likely need to pick up a win here.
Kyle Daukaus is the next dangerous opponent for Barriault. He is coming off a tough loss to Bo Nickal, where he was stopped near the end of the very 1st round. The matchup was certainly not a favorable one for Daukaus as Nickal had the superior grappling edge to go along with his power advantage. Before that loss, Daukaus had won 6 straight fights. He seemingly has not been able to find a way to defeat high-level opponents. Daukaus is arguably on the cusp of the level of the fighters who have defeated Barriault recently. Also, Daukaus is a southpaw, and we saw Barriault have trouble with Oleksiejczuk, who was also a southpaw. We'd like Daukaus to find a way to victory here.
