The Detroit Pistons (6-2, 2-1 at Home) will look to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today as they host the Los Angeles Lakers (8-2, 3-1 on the Road). Tipoff at Little Caesars Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST with coverage provided by NBA TV.
Although the game features two of the best teams in the NBA, fans may not see the best version of either today. Isaiah Joe (hip) and Jalen Duren (hamstring) are both listed as ‘Out’ on the latest injury report. Isaac Jones and Elijah Harkness are listed as questionable (not injury-related).
As for the Lakers, they have just one player listed, but it is the team’s most important player: Luka Doncic. Doncic is averaging a league-high 40.1 points per game, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists while shooting 49.8% from the floor. That's a lot of production to replace against one of the league's best defensive teams.
Doncic has had a few days off since the Lakers last played (November 4) to rest up. But with the Pistons dealing with several injuries, it wouldn't be shocking if they take a cautious approach and give Doncic the night off.

Luka Doncic’s availability is the key to this game; the last place any team wants a 40-point-a-night scorer is on the bench. But he said after the last win (Wednesday, over Portland), he said he was tired, as he should be after a 53-point night. The injury is listed as ‘lower back tightness.’ I’d like to think that can improve significantly with a few days off. I wouldn’t be shocked if he sat, but I’d think he’d be able to go after having a few days off. Because of that, I’d take the Lakers ML as a solid value play.
