Goffin also survived a grueling four-set tussle with Frenchman Quentin Halys 6-7(2) 6-4 6-3 7-5 to book his spot in the second round of the 2025 US Open. Goffin yielded six service breaks to Halys, but he also got back three more breakpoint conversions on 62 return points to seize the edge in the match. The Belgian is trying to go beyond the fourth round of the 2025 US Open for the first time in his career after coming up a win short of a quarterfinals stint four times. Goffin has been in the round of 16 of the US Open in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
