One of Tuesday's Canadian Open quarter finals sees up-and-comer Daniel Merida Aguilar test himself against Learner Tien, who is currently ranked as the world number 19. Having beaten Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets, the Spaniard should be feeling confident, but he'll likely need to go up a level to seriously test a player who is better developed at this level.
If we really think about it, then it's hard to go against Learner Tien, who is the much higher-ranked player. Sure, Daniel Aguilaer Merida is playing well in Montreal, and the Spaniard clearly likes the conditions, but he hasn't had the toughest run. This is easily his trickiest assignment yet, and given the level of form that we've seen from his American opponent, the Spanish player, who continues to be ranked outside of the top 50 is worth opposing in the betting.
