After winning this event a year ago, Ben Shelton now has a huge chance to follow up and retain his crown. Thanks to some top-level performances, the youngster has reached the final, where he'll face fellow American Brandon Nakashima, who has also been in excellent form over the last fortnight, defeating some very useful players, though this is easily his toughest task.
Ben Shelton comes into this match as a strong favorite, and it's not really easy to argue with that. If anything, as the defending champion who has not dropped a set all tournament, he could easily be an even stronger favorite, so much so that he is worth betting on to retain his crown without dropping a set. Frankly, as decent as Nakashima has been of late, Shelton has defeated better players, and after that hugely convincing display against the current world number 17, he should be bet on to beat the world number 31 in straight sets.

Our Ben Shelton vs Brandon Nakashima Prediction
It's very hard to pick holes in the efforts of Ben Shelton in Montreal. Sure, Brandon Nakashima is in very good form right now, but even in top form, the world number 31 is expected to struggle against a player who he's found it very hard to beat in the past. Of course, he does have one win against Shelton on his CV, but he's also lost to Friday's opponent in straight sets on four previous occasions.
Considering that Shelton is clearly at his best under these conditions, it's easy to side with the higher-ranked player to secure a fifth career win against Nakashima without dropping a set.
