2025 EuroBasket: Competing for the Best of Europe
The 2025 EuroBasket tournament begins today at 12:30 CET with Lithuania taking on Great Britain. Four countries will play host to this year's EuroBasket tournament: Poland, Latvia, Cyprus and Finland. In total, 24 nations will be represented at the tournament, with some of the NBA's top stars representing their home nation. Here's a look at which NBA players will be present this year.
Which NBA Players Will Play in the 2025 EuroBasket Tournament?
For this year's tournament, there are a total of 35 active NBA players and 38 former NBA players competing. This list includes rookies, freshly drafted players, and some of the league's biggest stars. Knowing which countries have the most star-studded lineups is great info for your basketball picks. Without further ado, here's a breakdown of all the NBA players you can catch on the courts of the 2025 EuroBasket.
Group A
Group A features Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Portugal, Serbia and Turkey, and includes several active and former NBA players. Here's a per-country list:
Czechia
The only NBA player representing Czechia will be Atlanta Hawks' point guard, Vít Krejčí.
Latvia
Former Celtics and current Hawks big man, Kristaps Porziņģis will represent his home nation alongside former NBA brothers Dāvis Bertāns and Dairis Bertāns.
Portugal
Boston Celtics center Neemias Queta is the sole NBA player representing Portugal in this tournament.
Serbia
Several active NBA players will represent Serbia, one of the tournament's favorites, including: Bogdan Bogdanović (Clippers), Nikola Jović (Heat), Nikola Topić (Thunder), Tristan Vukcevic (Wizards), and, of course, Nikola Jokić (Nuggets). Serbia also has several former NBA players on their lineup: Marko Gudurić (Grizzlies), Balša Koprivica (Drafted by Pistons), Vanja Marinković (Drafted by Kings), Vasilije Micić (OKC), Nikola Milutinov (Drafted by Spurs), Filip Petrušev (Clippers), Alen Smailagić (Warriors).
Turkey
Adem Bona of the 76ers and Alperen Sengun of the Rockets are the two active Turkish NBA players, while former NBA players Onuralp Bitim (Bulls), Furkan Korkmaz (76ers), Shane Larkin (Celtics), Cedi Osman (Spurs), Omer Yurtseven (Jazz).
Group B
Group B features Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Lithuania, Sweden and Montenegro and is the group with the fewest active or former NBA players. That being said, there are several key players on these teams including:
Finland
The Utah Jazz's "Finnisher", forward Lauri Markkanen, is the only Finnish NBA player taking part in the tournament.
Germany
Germany are one of the tournament's favorites and feature some notable NBA stars, including the Magic's Tristan Da Silva, the Kings' Dennis Schröder, and of course, the Magic's Franz Wagner. The German squad will also include former NBA players Issac Bonga (Raptors) and Dainel Theis (Clippers).
Lithuania
Jonas Valančiūnas is the sole active NBA player representing Lithuania this year but is no stranger to the tournament, earning all-tournament honors in EuroBasket 2015. Former NBA player Deividas Sirvydis (Wizards) will also take part in the tournament.
Montenegro
An NBA veteran at this point, the Magic's Nikola Vučević is the only active NBA player competing this year, alongside Marko Simonovic, who had a short stint with the Bulls in 2023.
Sweden
The Miami Heat's shooting guard Pelle Larson is the only Swedish NBA player in the tournament.
Group C
Group C will feature several active and former NBA players, including some of the most recognizable names in basketball.
Georgia
The Orlando Magic are sending their center, Goga Bitadze to play alongside compatriot and Pacers center Sandro Mamukelashvili.
Greece
The Bucks' star Giannis Antetokounmpo will play alongside former Greek NBA players, Kostas Antetokounmpo (Lakers), Tyler Dorsey (Mavs), Kostas Papanikolaou (Nuggets).
Italy
Two Italian NBA Stars will compete this year: Simone Fontecchio who now plays for the Heat, and new draftee Saliou Niang, who is headed to the Cavs next season. They will be joined by former NBA players: Danilo Gallinari (Pistons), Nicolò Melli (Mavs), Matteo Spagnolo (Timberwolves), Gabriele Procida (Pistons).
Spain
The 7-foot Spanish monster, Santi Aldama of the Memphis Grizzlies will represent Spain alongside Atlanta Hawks youngster, Eli Ndiaye. Former NBA players, the Hernangómez brothers, will also take part in the tournament.
Group D
Rounding out our list is Group D, which features Belgium, France, Iceland, Israel, Poland and Slovenia. Here are the NBA players representing these nations in the 2025 EuroBasket:
France
The French team is stacked full of active and former NBA players, including: Bilal Coulibaly (Wizards), Moussa Diabate (Hornets), Ousmane Dieng (Thunder), Zaccharie Risacher (Hawks), Alex Sarr (Wizards), Guerschon Yabusele (Knicks), Isaïa Cordinier (Nets), Jaylen Hoard (OKC), Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (Hawks), Theo Maledon (Hornets), Frank Ntilikina (Hornets), Elie Okobo (Suns), Vincent Poirier (76ers).
Israel
Two active NBA players will represent Israel: Deni Avdija of the Portland Trailblazers and Ben Saraf of the Brooklyn Nets. These two will be accompanied by former Israeli NBA players, TJ Leaf (OKC) and Yam Madar (Celtics).
Slovenia
Rounding out our list is the mountain state of Slovenia, which will feature one of the NBA's biggest stars, Lakers point guard Luka Dončić. Joining him will be the Nuggets power forward, Vlatko Čančar. Zoran Dragic who briefly played for the Suns will also take part in the tournament.
