2025 Africa Cup of Nations: Top Scorer Props
Tournaments such as the Africa Cup of Nations offer numerous betting opportunities. In addition to betting on the eventual winner of the competition (feel free to use our 2025 Africa Cup of Nations predictions to help you), bookmakers also give you the chance to place a bet on the tournament's top scorer.
Victor Osimhen, the logical choice
The former Charleroi, Lille, and Napoli player, now with Galatasaray, is well known to the general public. His unusual profile, powerful but very agile and high-speed, with excellent ball control, makes him a complete and dangerous striker in the box. After two great seasons in Belgium (20 goals) and France (18 goals), he moved to Napoli to join a club of a completely different caliber.
And that's when Osimhen exploded onto the scene at the highest level, despite a few injuries and disagreements with the club president. In four years, he scored 76 goals in 133 appearances. The 2022/2023 season was the pinnacle of his career, with the championship title at the end and 26 goals in Serie A + 5 goals in the Champions League. It was then that, after disagreements with the club, he decided to fly to Turkey to join Galatasaray.
Osimhen has scored 31 goals in 45 appearances for Nigeria.
With the capital club, he also finished as champion in his first season, making a lasting impression: 26 goals in 30 Süper Lig games, 5 goals in 4 Turkish Cup games, and 6 goals in 7 Champions League games. As you can see, this is a player who can find the back of the net.
During the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, he reached the final with Nigeria and was clearly one of the team's main threats, even though he wasn't as effective as usual (1 goal in 7 games)! Overall, he remains quite prolific in the Super Eagles jersey: 31 goals and 4 assists in 45 games. In any case, he is our favorite to be the top scorer of this 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mohamed Salah, the perfect time to bounce back?
The Liverpool striker is no longer in favor in Merseyside. A true club legend, the man who brought two Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy to the Reds' trophy cabinet is at odds with his current coach, Arne Slot.
Mohamed Salah is obviously paying the price for his beloved club's poor results, but also for his below-average performance this season: 5 goals and 3 assists in 19 games this season with the reigning English champions.
However, the Egyptian international is still enjoying a prolific spell with his national team, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists in 9 qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup played this summer. He intends to continue this form during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Bryan Mbeumo, a leadership role up for grabs
The Manchester United striker has a chance to shine during the tournament! With Vincent Aboubakar not selected by David Pagou, the former Troyes and Brentford player will lead the Indomitable Lions' attack.
After enjoying his best season last year with 20 goals and seven assists in the Premier League with the Bees, he joined the Red Devils for a hefty fee last summer. While things are not yet perfect collectively, he is doing rather well individually and is still finding the back of the net.
After a strong qualifying campaign for the upcoming World Cup with Cameroon (4 goals and 2 assists), he will need to be slightly more efficient to claim the title of top scorer in the Africa Cup of Nations, but he clearly has the qualities to do so.
Ayoub El Kaabi the favorite in Morocco despite the competition?
Morocco has plenty of options in attack! The Fennecs have two high-quality strikers, even without Lille's Hamza Igamane, and Walid Regragui could well have a headache when selecting his starting XI for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Let's start with Youssef En-Nesyri, who has moved further afield after many years at Sevilla FC and now plays in Turkey for Fenerbahçe. His statistics remain very good, and he is still an excellent striker.
He scored 30 goals last year for Fener, and although he has been slightly less effective this year, he has still found the net eight times. He could be a real asset for the Moroccans.
But the starter could well be Ayoub El Kaabi, the Olympiacos striker who continues to find the back of the net. Although he has never really played in a top league (Morocco, China, Qatar, and Greece), he remains a dangerous striker, as evidenced by his 75 goals in 115 appearances in the red and white jersey of Olympiacos.
In a well-oiled team like Morocco's, supported by players of great technical quality, we could well see his name appear several times on the scoreboard at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He could be the right move to make!
Sadio Mané for one last dance?
The Senegalese international needs no introduction. Champion in 2021, he had a superb Africa Cup of Nations with 3 goals and 2 assists. Despite his departure to Saudi Arabia, he maintains a high level of play and his status as the nation's offensive leader.
For example, he had an excellent qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup with 5 goals in 8 games, and just scored a hat trick for the Lions of Teranga in a friendly match against Kenya on November 18.
While we don't think he's the favorite for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, he remains a player who should never be underestimated and who will be keen to shine in what could well be his last AFCON.
