The Washington Commanders (2-1) will try to improve their position in the NFC East as they take on the Atlanta Falcons (1-2) on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Commanders, 4-0 in their last four meetings with the Falcons, are enticing +106 road underdogs against Atlanta, which suffered a devastating 0-30 defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers last week.
Current Form:
The Commanders carry a 2-1 record entering week 4 of the 2025 NFL season. Washington kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 win over the New York Giants, 21-6, before bowing to the Green Bay Packers, 18-27, in week 2. The Commanders rebounded in a big way the following week as they outgunned the Las Vegas Raiders, 41-24.
Washington ranks only 20th in the NFL in passing yards per game (196.7), but it is a top-10 team in rushing yards (157.3– 2nd) and points per game (26.7 – 7th). It also has the 12th-best defense in the NFL, surrendering an average of 19.0 points per game.
The Falcons are 1-2 after three games in their 2025 NFL season campaign. Atlanta dropped a nail-biter to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-23 in week 1 but bounced back by drubbing the Minnesota Vikings 22-6 in week 2. However, Atlanta absorbed an embarrassing 0-30 loss to the Carolina Panthers last week.
Atlanta’s 199.3 passing yards per game ranks 19th in the NFL this season. The Falcons are 6th in the NFL in rushing yards per game (139.3), but they are second-to-last in points per game (14.0). They also own the 13th-best defense in the NFL with 19.7 points allowed per game.
Players to Watch Out For:
Commanders: RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (125 rushing yards on 22 carries with two TDs) and WR Terry McLaurin (149 yards on 10 receptions).
Falcons: QB Michael Fenix (605 yards with one TD and two interceptions), RB Bijan Robinson (239 rushing yards on 47 carries), and linebacker Kaden Eliss (18 tackles and 1 sack).

Our Washington Commanders vs Atlanta Falcons Prediction
Still explosive on the ground, the Commanders threaten to blow out the Falcons on their home turf in Atlanta.
Washington owns the second-best mark in rushing yards per game, with Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Jeremy McNichols, and even Jayden Daniels dealing much damage. Atlanta has the 8th-best defense against the rush this year, allowing an average of 96.3 yards per game. Even so, the Commanders remain a potent offensive team that can score points in many ways.
Daniels will sit out for a second straight game with a knee injury. However, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota has proven to be a dependable replacement following his dazzling performance in the win over the Raiders, Mariota passed for 207 yards with one TD to lead the Commanders to a blowout win against Las Vegas.
for the Falcons, Michael Fenix has already covered 605 passing yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Fenix, who has been sacked four times this season, could be in a lot of trouble against Washington’s ferocious pass-rushing unit that averages 3.0 sacks per game.
Our betting prediction for the Washington Commanders vs. the Atlanta Falcons: The Commanders will win.
