The Washington Mystics (16-23) visit the Golden State Valkyries (19-18) on Saturday, August 30, at the Chase Center.
This is the fourth time that the Mystics and Valkyries will face each other this season. The Valkyries have won all of the first three games by an average margin of 2.7 points.
The Valkyries are also coming off a 90-81 victory over the Dallas Wings. Their defense was exceptional, holding Wings star rookie Paige Bueckers to only nine points and 3-12 shooting.
Veronica Burton led all scorers with 25 points and added 13 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocks to her tally. Iliana Rupert added 17 points and 6 boards, while Kaila Charles contributed 16 markers and 6 rebounds.
That win was a huge sigh of relief for the Valkyries, who previously lost three games in a row.
Speaking of consecutive defeats, the Mystics have lost their last five games. Most recently, they were convincingly defeated by the New York Liberty, 89-63. Only two Mystics scored in double digits, with Sonia Cifron and Kiki Iriafen producing 18 and 16 points, respectively.
Monique Billings, Cecilia Zandalasini, and Kayla Thornton will not play for the Valkyries, while Mystics' Jacy Sheldon will sit out on Saturday.
