The Washington Mystics (16-19) visit the Connecticut Sun (7-27) on Thursday, August 21, at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
This is the fourth time that the Sun and Mystics will face each other this season. The Mystics won the first two games, but they were ambushed by the Sun last Tuesday.
With the odds against them, the Sun pulled off an impressive 80-69 victory over the Mystics. Saniya Rivers and Olivia Nelson-Ododa both came off the bench to put up 17 and 15 points, respectively. Veteran Tina Charles hauled in a near-double-double performance of 13 points and 9 rebounds.
It was a disappointing loss for the Mystics, who are still in the playoff bubble. Sonia Citron had 19 points in the loss, but the Mystics shot a lowly 5-17 clip from the three-point line. Kiki Iriafen also struggled, failing to reach double digits in scoring.
Still, the Mystics have a better offensive and defensive rating than the Sun. If they could take care of the ball and shoot better from beyond the arc, they have a good chance of winning Thursday's game.
Mystics' Jacy Sheldon, who is nursing an ankle injury, has been ruled out. The Sun doesn't have any names on their injury report.
