As is the case at the start of a Grand Slam tournament such as Wimbledon, there are loads of first-round matches taking place on Monday, too many to keep tabs on in fact. One of the more intriguing contests, at least from a betting point of view, involves Vit Kopriva and Jordan Thompson. As the higher-ranked player, Thompson will be looking to dominate, but that may not be easy to do against an opponent who showed some grit at this tournament a year ago, beating vastly experienced campaigner Richard Gasquet, before going out to Novak Djokovic. The Czech player will be looking to use that positive experience as a platform from which to build, and let's face it, he's not exactly up against an in-form Thompson, oh no.
The Australian comes into Wimbledon off the back of retiring when a set down against Jaime Munar a fortnight ago, so he hasn't exactly had the best preparation for this tournament. He's also not a player with a recent history of easy first-round wins at Wimbledon, so don't be too surprised if Kopriva gets seriously competitive here.
