One of the American contingent will be in action on Thursday, when Emma Navarro goes up against Veronika Kudermetova of Russia in a second-round match at the All England Club. Kudermetova reached the second round thanks to straight-set win against the lower-ranked Zhu on China, and she wasn't overly tested, winnign 6-3, 6-2. That was a pleasing first win and it should have filled her with the confidence required to have a serious go at making the third round at Wimbledon for the first ever time. Unfortunately for her, she may need to tap into reserves that she doesn't have to beat someone as strong as Emma Navarro. 

The world number ten comes into Wimbledon this year having enjoyed a decent 2025, while she played well at this particular Grand Slam last year, reaching the quarter finals, losing to Jasmine Paolini, who ended up reaching the final. With that under her belt, she'll surely fancy herself to do well this year, and she can start to do that by securing what should be a fairly straightforward win here.
