Another of Thursday's WTA matches at the event in Indian Wells that catches my eye from a betting point of view is the one between Varvara Gracheva and Lilli Tagger. This is a battle between France and Austria, and it's also a clash between two players who have been operating at different levels of late. Gracheva has been holding her own very nicely at WTA level, winning several matches at the events in both Doha and Dubai. In contrast, Tagger has been operating at Challenger level and could thus find this step up in class tough to take.
Last time out, Gracheva's three-game winning streak came to an end, but that was against Jessica Pegula, who is a top player. Now faced with a much more realistic task, the French player, who is currently ranked at 58 in the world, should absolutely fancy herself to make a winning start to her time in California.
