As things start to wind up at the ATP event in Indian Wells, where we're already seeing some high-class tennis, there's an all French affair due to take place on Thursday evening, when Valentin Royer and Benjamin Bonzi will lock horns for the second time at ATP level. When the pair previously met, back in late 2025, it was Bonzi who came out on top. Despite being the lower-ranked player here, it is Bonzi who is just about favored in the early betting.
Of the two players, Bonzi is the one who has been playing closer to his best in recent weeks, winning eight of his last ten matches, while he already has two qualifying matches under his belt in Indian Wells, which could be key. Royer hasn't yet had the chance to play a competitive match at this tournament and thus it may take him a little longer to adjust to the fairly unique hard courts that are in play this week. Consider that he's also out of form, winning just one of his 2026 matches, and it's not overly difficult to see the man currently ranked at 60 in the world struggling.

In fact, by the time this match begins, I think that he'll be shorter than odds of -115, which are available at the time of writing. Sure, he's ranked below Royer, but you wouldn't know that on recent form, while we shouldn't forget that Bonzi is the player who came out on top when the pair met before.
Throw into the mix that Royer is clearly out of form and not as his best and a bet on the lower-ranked Frenchman to get the job done becomes something of an easy choice, especially at odds of -115.
