After a promising run in Linz, 18-year-old Lilli Tagger has proven that she’s more than a one-hit wonder, reaching the quarterfinals of the 2026 WTA 125 Saint-Malo. Tagger swept Amandine Monnot 6-4, 6-1, two days after outclassing Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah 6-0, 6-4. Now a top-100 player, Tagger is 4-2 on clay in 2026.
Tereza Valentova also advanced to the last eight with a three-set win over Claire Liu 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Valentova, one of many promising players from the Czech Republic, has compiled a 2-1 record on clay. Valentova lost to Yulia Putintseva 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the first round of the 2026 Madrid Open, but she rebounded with a sweep of former French Open finalist Sloane Stephens 6-4, 6-1 in the first round at Saint-Malo.
