Iga Swiatek arrived in New York looking to pull off back-to-back Grand Slam championship runs after winning her first Wimbledon Open title in June. The former world’s No.1 is off to a strong start as she demolished Colombian Emiliana Arango 6-1 6-2 in straight sets. Swiatek unleashed an unstoppable service game, winning 88 percent of her first serves to hold all her serves. She also seized four break point conversions by winning 20 return points. Swiatek, the 2025 Cincinnati Open champion, extended her winning streak to seven matches and improved her 2025 hard-court record to 29-7.
Meanwhile, Lamens advanced to the second round of the 2025 US Open following a breezy 6-4 6-2 victory over Valerie Glozman of the United States. Lamens, who earned her first win in four matches on Tuesday, dropped three service games to Glozman, but still managed to hack out a straight-set victory by taking back six break point conversions on 27 return points. Lamens garnered her first US Open main draw win after losing in the first round of the qualifiers in her first two tries.
