The Stockholm tournament in Sweden continues this week with a meeting between Italian player Lorenzo Sonego and 2nd seed Casper Ruud. These two players have met 4 times since 2020 and know each other inside out. In 4 meetings, Casper Ruud has always won against the Italian and should do the same here in Sweden. Although Casper Ruud remains a clay-court specialist, given his performances over the last few years, he'll be keen to end the season on a high note, and this tournament will be in his sights. Winner of the Barcelona and Geneva tournaments this season, he has had little success on the hard court. In Tokyo and Shanghai, the Norwegian was knocked out on his first appearance. Desperate to raise his game, he enters the Stockholm tournament in the spirit of revenge. 

For his part, Lorenzo Sonego won the Winston-Salem tournament and is now one of the world's top 50 players. After failing to get past the first round at the US Open, Chengdu, Beijing and Shanghai, he won his first match since his title at Winston Salem in Stockholm. Facing Marc-Andrea Huesler, he barely managed to win 7-6, 7-5 in almost 2 hours of play.
