Arriola, de la Vega and Rusnak each contributed to the Seattle Sounders' 3-1 victory over Antigua in Guatemala with a goal, and the return leg at Lume Field on Wednesday seems like a mere formality for the Seattle team to advance to the round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions League. In the next phase, if they manage to seal the tie against Antigua, they would have to face the powerful Mexican Cruz Azul.
It has been an excellent start to 2025 for the team led by Brain Schmetzer, partly due to the very good preseason of the Seattle Sounders where they remained undefeated. They are still undefeated in 2025, but starting the new MLS season with a 2-2 draw against Charlotte at Lume Field cut short their good momentum a bit.
Jordan Morris, the 30-year-old American striker, had an excellent start to the league season, even in the draw, as both of Seattle's goals fell to him, recovering from a somewhat lackluster game against Antigua in Guatemala.
Of course Antigua will want to make an epic comeback in Seattle, but after conceding three at the Estadio Pensativo it seems unlikely they will be able to do so.
