At the WTA event in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, there's an intriguing match between Sara Bejlek and Jelena Ostapenko. Ranked just outside of the top 100 at present, Bejlek arrives off the back of a decent effort against the higher-ranked Ashlyn Krueger, and that's probably why she's quite well fancied by the early betting market. However, this is a much tougher task, especially if Ostapenko, who is easily ranked above the Czech player, is anywhere near her best.
For some time, the Latvian player has failed to consistently deliver what we know she's capable of, though in recent weeks, she's had her game in pleasing shape. Sure, she lost to Wang Xinyu at the Australian Open, but she fought hard on that occasion, winning a set, and let's face it, there's no shame in losing to a player ranked inside the top 40. This is a much easier task, and after she made it beyond a lower-ranked player in the first round, the one-time Grand Slam champion looks poised to advance.

Our Sara Bejlek vs Jelena Ostapenko Prediction
I really cannot see why Jelena Ostapenko is more fancied by the early betting market. Sure, the Latvian can be a frustrating player and she's certainly not averse to losing matches that she ought to win, but her recent form has been decent, so much so that she should be considered as a more likely winner against an opponent of Bejlek's standing than odds of -105 would suggest.
Bejlek did defeat Ashlyn Krueger to reach this stage, which was a decent effort, but this is a much tougher match for the Czech player, who doesn't exactly have a great recent record against players of Ostapenko's level. Ostapenko's recent wins against Sramkova and Selekhmetova tell me that she can get the job done here.
