Last season's Clausura tournament winners Toluca visit Santos Laguna in their first road game of the new Liga MX season. Toluca started their campaign with an excellent display to dispatch Necaxa 3-1, despite falling behind early in the first half. That result means that Toluca have now lost just one of their last 14 matches. It's early days, but it already seems highly likely that Toluca will once again be challenging for major honours this season.
After a dismal Clausura tournament, in which they won just two of their 17 league games, Santos Laguna started the new season with a shock 3-0 victory over U.N.A.M at Estadio Corona. However, Wednesday night's game represents a much tougher test for Fernando Ortiz's men and they will need to produce their best display in years if they are to avoid defeat.
