The San Jose Sharks begin their trip through the New York metro area against the New York Islanders, although it hasn’t really made much of a difference who the Sharks have played. They’ve managed just two points this season, and that only because of making it into overtime. Only Calgary and Ottawa have done a worse job at keeping the puck out this season than San Jose.
As one would expect with defense like that, it’s been a rough time for the rebuilding Sharks. They are the only team in the league that doesn’t have a win, and they’re getting this game at the wrong time. New York got off to a slow start, but the Isles got the offense rolling the past two games. And they’re now on the hunt for a third straight win.
