The Seattle Kraken will kick off 2026 with a back-to-back set, hosting the Nashville Predators in the first game on Thursday at Climate Pledge Arena.
Seattle had a successful finish to 2025, posting a 4-0-1 record over the final five games. Only a shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks denied the Kraken a chance to carry over a five-game winning streak into the new year.
Lane Lambert’s team has been buzzing despite being without two key players. Veteran forward Jaden Schwartz missed all of December due to a lower-body injury, while defenseman Brandon Montour injured his hand a week before Christmas.
Nashville has been without former 40-goal scorer Jonathan Marchessault for five games, but he hasn’t been missed. A 4-1-0 run prior to Wednesday’s matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights marks one of the best stretches of the season for the Predators.
Andrew Brunette’s side has found a way to climb back into the postseason race, losing just four outings in December. Goaltender Juuse Saros has significantly improved his form, while Nashville currently boasts the best line in hockey. The trio of Steven Stamkos, Ryan O’Reilly, and Filip Forsberg has combined for 45 points in December.
