Although Napoli are the reigning Serie A champions, certain recent results cast doubt on whether they can truly be a protagonist in the Champions League. Last weekend, they failed to beat Torino in the Italian league; Conte's team now faces a difficult visit to the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven for Matchday 3 of the Champions League.
Napoli has shown weaknesses, especially playing away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Their last three visits have resulted in defeats across all competitions. In Matchday 1 of the Champions League, Di Lorenzo's red card left Napoli with no chance of competing with Manchester City, and they lost. They also lost against AC Milan at San Siro, conceding a goal in the third minute, and Napoli couldn't turn things around despite playing with an extra man for over half an hour.
Meanwhile, with Eredivisie victories against Zwolle and then against G.A. Eagles, PSV moved into second place in the Dutch league table. In the Champions League, they had a lackluster debut, losing at home to Royale Union, which they then reversed by drawing 1-1 against Leverkusen in Germany with a goal from Saibari.
