The slumping Seattle Kraken hope to get back on track on Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Climate Pledge Arena.
Seattle came out of the holiday break in hot form but currently finds itself on a 1-3-2 run. Lane Lambert’s team is in danger of losing a fourth consecutive game. It would be a major setback for the side after the Kraken broke into the top three in the Pacific Division, setting them on course to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Kraken have struggled offensively for most of the season, and the problems have been very evident in recent games. Across the last six games, Seattle has settled for fewer than three goals four times.
Pittsburgh hasn’t celebrated many victories either as of late, but Sidney Crosby’s crew is riding a three-game point streak. The Penguins captain has rebounded from a three-game point drought with back-to-back multi-point games. Stopping him will be a big challenge for the Kraken on Monday.
In their first meeting this season, the Kraken struggled to contain Crosby, who had a goal and an assist. Still, it wasn’t enough for Pittsburgh to win. Brandon Montour scored in overtime to give Seattle a 3-2 road victory.
