The Phoenix Mercury visit the Las Vegas Aces for Game 2 of the 2025 WNBA Finals on Sunday, October 5, at the Michelob Ultra Arena.
The Aces took Game 1 after putting up a strong defensive stand in the fourth quarter. They held the Mercury to only 15 points in that period, and had the help of Alyssa Thomas missing two important free throws in the end.
Aces star A'ja Wilson didn't have a dominant game by her standards, but still produced 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. Dana Evans, who only averaged 6.6 points during the season, came off the bench to contribute 21 markers built on an impressive 5-of-6 shooting display from beyond the arc.
Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young, who added 18 and 10 points respectively, were the other double-digit scorers for the Aces.
On the other end, Kahleah Cooper topscored for the Mercury with 21 points on a 58.3% clip from the field. Satou Sabally contributed 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Thomas added 15.
The Mercury had a four-point lead entering the final period, but struggled with their offense. They could bounce back in Game 2, knowing that they can beat this tough Aces squad.
