A little after Monday's match between Francisco Comesana and Pedro Martinez Portero, there will be more ATP Santiago action. I get it, Nicolas Jarry is seemingly not the player he was a few seasons ago, but his recent clay-court return in Rio wasn't too displeasing. With that under his belt, he could very easily get more competitive here than the early odds suggest. After all, he is up against a non-top-100 player, while he's a former winner of this event, and that has to count for more than the early odds would have us believe.
Quite simply, I see Jarry as having a greater chance of avoiding a straight-set defeat, at a venue he clearly likes, than a price of -120 suggests. In other words, take the value.
