The New York Liberty (0-1) visit the Atlanta Dream (1-0) for Game 2 of their 2026 WNBA Playoffs Second Round matchup on Wednesday, October 7, at Gateway Center Arena.
After coming off a high in the first round of the playoffs where they swept the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx, the Liberty's defense couldn't do much against the Dream last Sunday.
Atlanta took Game 1 of their second-round playoff matchup against New York via a 92-82 victory. They actually trailed New York by three points entering the second half, but Atlanta put on a show in the third quarter.
The Dream outscored the Liberty, 32-15, in the third quarter. They led by as many as 14 points in that period, as the Dream increased their defensive pressure. The Dream's elite third-quarter defense wasn't a surprise, given that they have the second-best defensive rating in the league (104.5).
The Dream also forced the Liberty to commit 19 turnovers, with star guard Sabrina Ionescu accounting for five of those miscues.
Jordin Canada led the Dream with 25 points and 5 steals, while DeWanna Bonner came off the bench to chip in 23 points and 9 rebounds. Angel Reese was also a big factor in the win, stuffing the stat sheet with 17 points, 7 boards, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.
