Both the Mavericks and Knicks lost on Monday and will play each other at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday. New York is the odds-on favorite by 4.5 points.
The Knicks are currently the fifth favorites to win the NBA title, having started the season solidly with an 8-5 record; however, they have struggled on the road, failing to win any of their four away games so far. On November 14th and 17th, the Knicks played two games, one at home and one in Miami against the Heat. They won the first game in the Big Apple 140-132, thanks to a career-high performance from Shamet and 39 points from Karl-Anthony Towns. Three days later, they lost at the Kaseya Center 113-115; it was a day with only 9 three-pointers for the Knicks.
Meanwhile, the Mavs suffered their 11th loss of the season, falling 96-120 to the Timberwolves. Dallas was playing on consecutive days. Against Minnesota, two of their stars, Lively III and Daniel Gafford, were either resting or out with injuries.

Playing with only one day of rest, Dallas is 3-7 this season. Although he has been supporting his teammates, Anthony Davis is not expected to play for the Mavs for at least the next five days.
