After starting the season 0-4, the Miami Heat will try to win their third in a row tonight when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers. Fans can follow the action at the crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA, via NBA League Pass when the game gets underway at 10 p.m. EST.
Hopes were high in Miami heading into the season with the arrival of Giannis Antetokounmpo. But then the season got off to a bad start with losses to Minnesota, Detroit, Charlotte, and Dallas. They’ve bounced back since with a win over Atlanta, 129-117, and Indiana (145-125). But they’ll face a real challenge tonight against Luka Doncic and the Lakers.
As for the Lakers, LA got off to a great start with wins in their first three games before dropping one to the Portland Trail Blazers, 129-136. They’ve gone 2-1 since then, with the second loss coming against Golden State and a win in their last outing against Toronto, 131-125. Doncic recorded a double-double, scoring 45, hitting eight of 12 3-point attempts, and pulling down 15 rebounds. Walker Kessler also had a double- double, scoring 16 and pulling down 15 boards.

This game is a little tricky. We know who the Lakers are: Luka Doncic’s team and a high-scoring one that plays mediocre defense. With Giannis Antetokounmpo, expectations are high for the Heat, which made the losing streak to open the season disappointing. But after winning the last two, can we count on the good times to keep rolling? Miami’s defense probably won't slow down Doncic much (if at all). But their offense should do just fine against LA’s mediocre offense. I expect the Lakers to win, but I’d consider the OVER the better bet for what should be a high-scoring game.
