The Pelicans absorbed their latest loss at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, 118-125. Williamson only scored 14 points on 6-for-13 shooting, but rookie Derik Queen posted 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in a fantastic all-around performance. Trey Murphy III pumped up 23 points, while another standout rookie, Jeremiah Fears, added 16 points.
The Mavericks suffered their second straight loss since their overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers, 138-133. Dallas ran out of fuel against the New York Knicks 113-111 at American Airlines Center. D’Angelo Russell and Neji Marshall each scored 23 points, and Max Christie added 15 points for the short-handed Mavs, who missed Cooper Flagg due to illness.
