The slumping Dallas Stars will hope to avoid their worst losing streak of the season in Sunday’s matchup against the Montreal Canadiens at the American Airlines Center.
Dallas has lost four straight games, including two to a Chicago Blackhawks team without Connor Bedard. The team has not had a worse losing streak since dropping the final seven regular-season games in 2024-25.
Defense has let down the Stars, as they are on a four-game losing skid despite scoring three goals in three of those games. On Sunday, their defensive efforts must improve to avoid another disappointing result.
Montreal has been plagued by inconsistency, summed up by their first two performances of the new year. On Thursday, Martin St. Louis’ men had their best offensive outing of the season in a 7-5 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, but they could not generate any offense in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues.
The Canadiens have not managed more than two wins in a row since late November. However, they have also suffered consecutive defeats just twice since bouncing back from a five-game losing streak on Nov. 22.
