One of the more interesting matches taking place at Roland Garros on Thursday sees teenage superstar Mirra Andreeva take on Ashlyn Krueger, who is still something of an up-and-comer herself. In fact, we really shouldn't let Andreeva's stunning form as an 18-year-old overshadow the fact that Krueger is thriving at just 21. The US player is up to 35 in the WTA Rankings, which is to be applauded, while she showed plenty of quality to beat Suzan Lamens in the first round.
Unfortunately for Krueger, Andreeva, even at 18, is one of the best players on the planet, and there really is no doubt about that. The only player to beat the youngster in recent weeks is word number two Coco Gauff, and as good as Krueger is, she's not at that level, making this something of an uphill task for the American. Having reached the semi-finals of the French Open as a 17-year-old last season, Andreeva, who is up to sixth in the WTA Rankings, will be looking to go all the way, and you know what, she's probably capable of doing just that.

The only player to really test Mirra Andreeva in recent times is Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff. The youongster has brushed aside all other opponents, some of which are ranked significantly higher than Krueger. We also know how strong Andreeva was at Roland Garros last season, so don't be surprised if she makes light work of getting it done here. I certainly won't be.
