The No. 3 seed Denver Nuggets host the No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round series on Monday, April 20, at Ball Arena.
In Game 1, the Nuggets prevailed with a 116-105 victory. They trailed by as many as 12 points early before a 17-2 third-quarter run flipped the momentum. The Timberwolves trimmed the deficit to 97-95 with 6:23 remaining, but Nuggets star Nikola Jokic responded with a key five-point stretch to push Denver back ahead.
Jokic amassed a triple-double stat line, finishing with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. Jamal Murray went 0-8 from the three-point line, but still produced a game-high 30 points on a perfect 16-16 from the charity stripe.
All the Wolves starters finished with double digits in the scoring column, with Anthony Edwards' 22 markers leading the way. Rudy Gobert also hauled in a double-double of 17 points and 10 boards.
However, Minnesota should find a better way to defend without fouling. They gave the Nuggets 33 free throw attempts, including 16 to Murray alone.
The Nuggets have dominated the regular-season series against the Timberwolves, 3-1, winning the first three matchups. No names are listed on the injury reports of both teams.
