One of the first second-round matchups at the Roland Garros Grand Slam will see Hungary’s Márton Fucsovics take on American Tommy Paul in front of the French crowd.

Fucsovics, playing in the Paris tournament for the eighth time, won his first-round match in straight sets against Australian wild card Tristan Schoolkate (ranked No. 127 in the world). However, the Hungarian hasn’t been able to find a consistent form in recent tournaments. He won his opening match at the Estoril Challenger but was knocked out in the second round by Nuno Borges. Then, after failing to make it through the qualifiers in Rome, he likely won’t come into this match with much confidence.

Tommy Paul, the No. 12 seed, had a bit of a scare in the opening set of his first-round match, dropping it in a tiebreak to lucky loser Elmer Møller. But with his experience, the 28-year-old American rallied to win in four sets (6-7(5), 6-2, 6-3, 6-1). Coming off a strong run at the Rome Masters 1000, where he notched four straight wins, including over Tomas Machac, Alex de Minaur, and Hubert Hurkacz, Paul should have little trouble advancing to the third round here.
