Martin Damm Jr vs Ben Shelton Prediction & Picks - ATP Washington Citi Open

Two US players will clash at the ATP event in Washington on Tuesday, when Martin Damm Jr and Ben Shelton lock horns. The former comes into this match off the back of two solid qualifying efforts, and off the back of those efforts, Damm Jr should be a little more up to speed with the conditions than Shelton, who hasn't yet played at tournament. Moreover, Shelton comes into this event having not played an ATP match since late June. 

Ben Shelton enjoyed himself during the early rounds of this tournament a year ago, citing how he always feels good when returning to US hard courts around this time of year, but the fact remains that he's not played any competitive tennis in nearly a month, while he's up against a player who has already played twice in Washington, so don't be too shocked if this is isn't quite as easy for the world number eight as the time-of-writing odds suggest it will be.
