This weekend, the last 16 matches of the 2026 Australian Open will take place! In one of these matches, 37-year-old Croatian Marin Cilic and 27-year-old Norwegian Casper Ruud will face off to try to continue their adventure on Australian soil. 

With two Challenger titles won last season, in Nottingham on grass and in Girona on clay, Marin Cilic has jumped more than 70 places in the ATP rankings. This is an impressive performance for a player who had only played two matches in 2023 and had been out of the top 10 since 2018. The Croatian has made a strong impression in this Grand Slam, winning his first two rounds in just three sets against Daniel Altmaier and Denis Shapovalov.
