One of the many, many women's first-round matches due to get underway at Wimbledon on Tuesday sees Maria Sakkari and Anna Blinkova go head-to-head. The pair will be meeting on a grass court for the first time ever, and they're meeting at an interesting point, with the pair now next to each other in the WTA Rankings. The Greek competitor finds herself ranked 77th, while the Russian is ranked at 78th. Sakkari has played since exiting the event in Bad Homburg, Germany last week, with her losing in the second-round to Ekaterina Alexandrova. That was her third grass-court defeat in four matches, so she's not exactly a player in form. 

Blinkova did look in decent shape at Eastbourne recently, at least she did until she ran into a Maya Joint who is absolutely on a hot streak right now. Still, her win against Lulu Sun in the second round of that tournament suggests that she can seriously compete here. Moreover, the 26-year-old has just one first-round exit from six Wimbledon visits to her name. Not bad at all.
