Another of the matches to catch my eye ahead of Monday's qualifying action at the WTA event in Indian Wells sees Mananchaya Sawangkaew take on Rebeka Masarova. These two players will be meeting for the third time having most recently clashed in Miami last season. On that occasion, the Swiss player, who is currently the higher-ranked player, got the job done. Based on her recent efforts, Masarova really ought to be looking for a third straight win over her Thai opponent.
Masarova comes into this match having reached the quarters in Austin last week, an effort that should give her a platform from which to build in Indian Wells. Sawangkaew recently won an event in Mumbai, India, but that was at Challenger level, so she'll need to raise her game to make the main draw at this tournament.

Our Mananchaya Sawangkaew vs Rebeka Masarova Prediction
To be honest, given the form that she showed in Austin last week, reaching the quarter-finals, beating some decent players in the process, Rebeka Masarova could easily be a stronger favorite to beat Mananchaya Sawangkaew, which is exactly what the Swiss player did when the pair met in Miami last season. Prior to that, back in 2024, Masarova also beat Sawangkaew.
The Thai player has picked up some decent wins of late, but her US record isn't great, while she has previously struggled against this opponent, so don't expect her to cause an upset here.
