Magdalena Frech of Poland is set to take on Clara Tauson of Denmark on Monday in one of the intriguing first-round pairings at the 2025 Bad Homburg Open.

Frech begins another fresh campaign following another early-round exit at the Berlin Ladies Open, losing to Amanda Anisimova in a tough three-setter 6-2 4-6 6-3. It has been a challenging year for one of Poland’s best women’s singles players as Frech has compiled a disappointing 8-16 record in the season. She hopes to turn things around, or at least find a spark, at the Bad Homburg Open, which serves as one of the final warm-up tournaments before the start of the Wimbledon Open next week.

Similar to Frech, Tauson is another player searching to regain her competitive spirit after failing to make a mark in tournaments following her run to the final at the Dubai Tennis Championship earlier this year. Tauson has only played 12 grass court matches in her career, holding a 4-8 record on the surface. She made a breakthrough campaign last week when she barged into the quarterfinals of the Rothesay Open Nottingham before falling to Magda Linette 2-6. 7-5.
