Another of the big dogs due to get down to business in Charleston on Wednesday is Madison Keys, who has previously won this event. The current world number 18 hasn't been in sparkling form in 2026, but she's enjoyed moments of promise, while she should appreciate the return to Charleston, where she has often played very well. 

Up against Keys will be Donna Vekic, who has had to come through several qualifying rounds to feature in this match. The Croatian hasn't exactly thrived in recent times, so much so that she's dropped out of the top 100. Having had a few matches to warm up in Charleston, she should be sharp, but that doesn't change the fact that she has an awful clay-court record against Keys, who is clearly a superior player.
