Ludogorets Razgrad and Ferencváros meet on August 6 in a pivotal Champions League qualifying tie that promises to be evenly matched. Bulgarian champions Ludogorets enter this third-round clash battle-tested from earlier rounds. The Eagles from Razgrad saw off Belarusian side Dinamo Minsk 3-2 on aggregate in the first round, then dispatched Croatia’s Rijeka 3-1 after extra time in round two.
Ludogorets showed real grit against Rijeka – they drew 0-0 away and were 1-1 after 90 minutes at home before scoring twice in extra time to advance. That resilience under pressure will boost their confidence. On the domestic front, Ludogorets have continued their dominance: they’ve won the Bulgarian league title every year since 2012. The new season has started well for them, with clean-sheet victories in league play (including a 5-0 thrashing in their opener) and just a couple of goals conceded across all competitions so far.
Meanwhile, Hungarian champions Ferencváros are no strangers to European nights either – they reached the Champions League group stage in 2020 and routinely contend in UEFA tournaments. Ferencváros had a more fraught path to this stage: in the last round they survived a 6-4 aggregate shootout against Armenian underdogs FC Noah. They won 2-1 away, but a wild 4-3 home win exposed some defensive frailties as they relinquished leads multiple times.
In domestic action, Ferencváros have only just begun their league season; they stumbled with a 1-1 draw in their opener but bounced back with a victory in the Hungarian Cup. Form-wise, Ludogorets are unbeaten in seven competitive matches this season (five wins and two draws), whereas Ferencváros have three wins and one draw in their last four.

Our Ludogorets vs Ferencvarosi Budapest Prediction
Ludogorets lean on a mix of local and international talent. A key figure in attack is Bernard Tekpetey, the Ghanaian winger known for his pace and eye for goal. Tekpetey often sparks Ludogorets’ offense on the flanks. Up front, watch for striker Matías Tissera, an Argentine poacher who can capitalize on chances in the box.
Ludogorets also boast a steady midfield general in Caio Alexandre (a Brazilian playmaker) who helps control the tempo and supply the forwards. Notably, several different players have stepped up to score in their qualifier matches – for instance, 22-year-old midfielder Ivan Yordanov and Brazilian forward Erick each scored in the win over Rijeka – indicating that Ludogorets have diverse attacking options. Ferencváros, for their part, have some dangerous weapons too.
The Hungarian side’s attack is led by Serbian striker Aleksandar Pešić, who has already made his mark with goals in qualifying (he scored early in the home leg against Noah). Pešić’s physicality and experience make him a handful for defenders. Alongside him, the club can deploy Venezuelan winger Yéferson Soteldo – a recent signing known for his dribbling and creativity – to stretch defenses.
In midfield, Ihor Kharatin provides a defensive shield and distribution, while veteran playmaker Muhamed Besić brings top-level experience to Ferencváros’s engine room. One rising star to note is forward Tomás Badaloni, an Argentine on loan who scored against Inter Miami in a recent Leagues Cup crossover match; his confidence is high and he could be an x-factor off the bench.
Both teams have shown they can score, but also concede – Ferencváros allowed four goals in one game to a smaller club, and Ludogorets needed extra time to put away Rijeka. At the Ludogorets Arena in Razgrad, the home side will bank on their stout defense and roaring support to keep Ferencváros at bay.
Ferencváros’s best chance may be to nick an away goal and tighten up defensively, given their lapses in the last round. It’s a duel of champions with plenty of European savvy on each side. In a close contest, Ludogorets’ home dominance and knack for winning big games could prove decisive. Our prediction for Ludogorets vs. Ferencváros: Ludogorets Razgrad to win.
