Katie Volynets will try to qualify for the main draw of the 2025 US Open for the third consecutive year on Friday as she goes up against Jana Fett of the Netherlands on Friday.
Volynets defeated Sofia Coustolas of Belgium 6-3 6-4 to reach the final stage of the qualification at the US Open. The American has been in the main draw of the US Open four times, including the last two years. However, she’s still seeking for her first main draw win in this Grand Slam event.
Fett dismantled Joanna Garland of Taiwan 6-2 6-4 before hacking out a tough win over Tessah Andrianjafitrimo of France 6-7(5) 7-5 6-4. Fett has only played seven hard-court matches this year, going 5-2. She has a 55 percent win rate on the surface. Fett is eyeing her first main draw appearance at the US Open.

I am taking the hometown favorite, Katie Volynets, to win and earn another trip to the US Open main draw. Fett has done a terrific job reaching this far in the qualification stage, but I can’t see her beating Volynets, who has played in three US Open main draw tournaments already.
Volynets’ aggressive baseline attacks will create a lot of problems for Fett, who tends to fizzle down when facing pressure from her opponents. I am predicting a comfortable win by Volynets.
