Brazilian wunderkind Joao Fonseca will test No.10 seed Karen Khachanov of Russia in the second round of the 2025 Paris Masters on Wednesday.

Fonseca’s second win over Shapovalov in the first round is a testament that is first win over the Canadian is no fluke and that he has finally arrived as a force to be reckoned with at this level. Meanwhile, Khachanov scored his first win after a five-match losing skid against Quinn but I don’t think he’s ready for Fonseca’s electric style of play. Khachanov is clearly spent after already logging 55 matches on the tour this year. Things would have been different if Khachanov were playing at his top form, but in this situation Fonseca is a strong bet to pull off an upset.
