The Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 in Monaco opens this week with a duel between top 20 Russian Karen Khachanov and Englishman Cameron Norrie in the first round. Karen Khachanov kicks off his clay-court season at this tournament in Monaco. Indeed, his last match on clay was the quarter-final of the Roland Garros Grand Slam, where he lost to Novak Djokovic, but stole the first set. At the start of the year, the Russian was a semi-finalist in Marseille, then went on a 5-match winning streak before taking the title in Doha against Jakub Mensik.
